You can also call it closely-held, entrepreneurial, private, family- or employee-owned, but in my mind, human-owned businesses are special challenge for a business lawyer. These successful mid-market companies need more sophisticated legal support than a mom-and-pop, yet the business is more personal, and requires more personal attention by legal advisors, than public companies. The owners of these businesses deserve (and appreciate) legal advice from a lawyer who appreciates this balance.
